Booking Your Boat
Firstly determine how many passengers you have and the age. We have a range of boats suitable for all ages. We recommend our Spaceship boats for Yarra Cruising. They are easy to board with a flat floor for all ages and can accommodate up to 12 passengers.
We have our Speed boats for Bay Fishing and Cruising in the Bay. We would not recommend our speed boats for elderly passengers.
Reserving your boat is easy with Boat4Hire’s online booking system. Choose your preferred date and time, select the boat that suits your needs, and secure your rental with just a few clicks.
In Australia, no commercial vessel can be self-driven exceeding 12 passengers. Do Not proceed with the booking if a operator allows more than 12 passengers self-drive. Also, infants over 12 months of age are regarded as passengers under AMSA guidelines.
Before you continue on the water, Boat4Hire’s staff will provide an easy safety briefing. They will also show you how to use the boat.

You will be shown where all the safety gear is included. All domestic commercial vessels must have the following:
First Aid Pack
Life jackets for every passenger. They may not need to be worn but you require a safety demonstration of how to wear them in case of an emergency
Life ring in case someone falls in the water and can be retrieved
Maps where you can and can’t go and what hazards there are on your way
A contact number you can call for assistance.
Drinking for passengers in moderation is acceptable. However, the skipper must be under the limit of 0.05. The skipper has a duty of care to look after passengers and will be held responsible. Excess drinking is not permitted on our watercraft and guests who misbehave will be banned for life. We have a strict no-drugs policy
Pack for a day on the water with essentials like sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. Remember to bring snacks and drinks to stay energized. Weather conditions are very unpredictable and we advise you to take warm clothes and wet weather gear, Don’t forget your camera to capture the beautiful views and special moments.

After passing Herrig Island, you will have the river to yourselves. Other boats are limited to a speed of 4 knots and have a limited range.
You do not need a boat license to self-drive, but there are restrictions. For non-licensed drivers speed restrictions apply as well as where you may go.
We provide all safety gear and require infants under 10 years of age to wear a lifejacket.
